Lost in the wilderness

Exploration + Wellness + Resilience

Have you been knocked off course?

Are you trying to find your way back?

Are you lost and stuck in the wilderness?

I got lost in the wilderness when my son was diagnosed with autism at 22 months old. If you have a child with a disability or have experienced some other shattering event, I don’t need to describe to you the heartbreak, grief and cataclysmic trauma and shift that occurs in your life when you realize that nothing will ever be the same again. Life will not proceed how you had envisioned or hoped.

I get it. I’ve been there.

Maybe you also have a child with a disability or have been knocked off course.

Are you longing to:

Integrate your grief and sadness into your life so you can begin to find a new way? Feel hopeful about the future? Increase your resilience? Stop putting your own needs and desires aside? Find joy and meaning even within the constraints of your life? Create a new path for yourself?

Do you:

Feel so overwhelmed by your circumstances, you can’t find a way forward? Feel like you don’t even know who you are any more? Put your own needs and desires aside? Feel isolated and alone? Wish you weren’t so angry and frustrated all the time? Let your anxiety stop you from embracing small joys in life?

Are you ready to:

Create more resilience in your life? Take better care of yourself so you can be present for others? Figure out who you are who you are and how you want to be in the world given the unexpected events or the circumstance of your life? Come up with strategies to address with stress, anxiety and transitions? Find self-compassion and change your mindset? Find joy, meaning, fulfillment and balance?

“I have two children on the autism spectrum.  This has provided me with an infinite array of challenges – parenting, personal, social and general wherewithal. Sometimes it feels overwhelming and it definitely feels isolating.  I am often conflicted about how to balance my plans for my life and the need to be shaping and preparing them to live theirs. Sometimes it feels so complicated and overwhelming.

And that’s where Katy comes in.  She has a heart for families like mine.  And she has tools and expertise with Co-Active coaching that helped me put things into perspective, shift perspectives and execute plans to do things differently.  It isn’t really any less complicated, but with a coach by my side, it became possible to sort things through and move forward.”

How it works

Personal One-on-One Coaching

Coaching is a dynamic, thought-provoking and creative process that inspires you to maximize your potential and to take action to make lasting change. You drive the focus. Together we explore your strengths, wisdom, and the action and accountability needed to achieve your vision.

I often get asked about the difference between coaching and therapy. Therapy often focuses on healing and the past, and coaching focuses on the present and the future. If you feel like you have some healing to do before before you are ready to move forward, therapy might be your first step before coaching. I will always be here when you are ready. I know from personal experience that both can be very powerful and can play an important role during different parts of your journey.

Coaching is for essentially healthy and functional individuals who are striving to reach their full potential, or live a more present and meaningful life. Coaching is action-oriented, identifying goals, obstacles, and problematic behaviors that hold you back. Coaching helps you create an action plan and provides accountability to help you achieve your desired results.

As your coach, I will help you discover and clarify what you really want to achieve or change. I will encourage your self-discovery, and help elicit your own solutions and strategies. And, I will be there to keep you committed and accountable on this journey.

the Logistics

Coaching can be done by phone or video conference, and you can be anywhere in the world. I am based in Seattle, Washington, USA. We start with a complimentary session so you can experience coaching with me and to see if we are the right fit for each other. If we decide to move forward together, we will design how we want to work together. Typically, clients have two 60-minute calls per month after a foundational session. I am also available by email and text in between sessions and am always available for an emergency session. My coaching packages typically begin with a six month commitment and can be renewed after that.

Transformational change takes time.

I’ve seen coaching create tremendous change. It takes time, dedication and determination. It has helped my clients uncover who they really are at their core, celebrate their unique gifts, find their life-purpose, live in alignment with what’s truly important to them, become better parents, move past fear and patterns that hold them back, and make substantial and lasting changes in their personal and professional lives.
